HARTFORD - The death toll is now at 13 in last month's Hartford nursing home fire. Eighty-nine-year-old Elizabeth Arata of West Hartford died Saturday at Hartford Hospital. The Hartford Courant has reported that she died from fire-related injuries.
Initially 10 people died in the fire at the Greenwood Health Center. Three others, including Arata, later died in area hospitals.
Police have not determined if the fire was intentionally set or accidental. They've questioned a 23-year-old patient of the home, who reportedly said she was lying in bed flicking a cigarette lighter.
