What started as a seemingly normal Saturday, February 8,could have ended in deadly consequences if not for some brave firefighters.

Ciara Bell, 9, was savagely attacked by an over 100 pound Rottweiler. Thanks to the crew at Station 1 in Richmond VA, she's alive to tell the story.

"I had gone out to my vehicle to get something and I noticed two small girls with a huge dog. I thought, those girls are too small to be with that dog. I got a real bad feeling," said Captain Warren Davis.

"When I went back in the station I kept looking out the window checking on them. I saw the dog grab her. She screamed and I ran out the door, calling over my shoulder to the other firefighters to come help," Davis said.

Melvin Cash and Mike Throckmorten quickly came to their captain's side. Cash and Throckmorten distracted the dog, which then dropped the girl. Captain Davis swiftly lifted the girl and headed for the station. The Rottweiler had other plans.

Davis said, "I had her, and the dog just kept coming after her. He wanted her bad and he was determined. More firefighters came and stood, forming a human wall between the terrified girl and the unrelenting dog.
