Seven-Alarmer Rages at New Jersey Warehouse

Dec. 22, 2011

A warehouse fire that has been raging in Elizabeth, N.J. for an entire day reached seven alarms by Thursday afternoon, according to WABC-TV.

The fire began around 1 p.m. Wednesday as a car fire in the basement of a warehouse at 819 Newark Avenue which once housed the Burry Biscuit Factory.

The fire quickly spread and reached five alarms by Wednesday night and grew to a seven-alarm blaze by early Thursday.

Firefighters are struggling to get to the fire due to its location and are using foam to fill the basement in order to cut off the oxygen supply to the blaze.

Mutual aid companies have been called in from Jersey City and Newark.

There were no injuries or evacuations as result of the fire.
