Fire Damages Eight Condos in Tennessee

A fire at the Hamlet Condominiums in East Memphis this morning has damaged eight units, leaving families there displaced, but resulting in no serious injuries, officials said.

March 26--A fire at the Hamlet Condominiums in East Memphis this morning has damaged eight units, leaving families there displaced, but resulting in no serious injuries, officials said.

Firefighters arrived at 5670 Los Gatos Drive at 8:38 a.m. to find fire coming from the roof of the two-story building, according to Lt. Wayne Cooke, fire department spokesman.

The fire was under control by 9:12 a.m. One resident received a scratch to his face, but there were no serious injuries to residents or fire department personnel, Cooke said.

The fire department dispatched 39 pieces of equipment and 91 personnel to battle the blaze.
