Nov. 30--A determined crew of emergency workers and wardens rescued a deer stuck on the ice Thursday on Tichigan Lake.
Residents in the area noticed the deer continually collapsing on the ice, and the Tichigan Volunteer Fire Department began looking at ways to help the animal.
They and some Department of Natural Resources staff finally found a way to get out to the buck with a special sled, then towed him to the shore.
"It was almost as if he knew that we were there to help him," Tichigan volunteer Bob Zortman told WITI-TV (Channel 6), which has this report and some great video of the rescue.
