Ocala firefighters rescued an unconscious woman from an apartment fire Saturday night.
A neighbor reported hearing smoke alarms sounding in the SW 32nd Avenue apartment building and Engine 4 reported nothing showing when they arrived around 11:30 p.m.
Firefighters forced entry into the structure to investigate and found a smoke-filled apartment.
While conducting a search of the apartment, firefighters found an unconscious, on her bed and removed her from the structure.
The crew from Rescue 4 treated the patient before transporting to a local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters found a pot left on the stove and ventilated the apartment.
"Although the absence of fire in this incident may seem like a good thing, it is important to remember that while flames burn, most injuries and loss of life during a fire are due to smoke inhalation," said Ocala Fire Public Information Officer Ashley Lopez.
