NFPA Sponsored a Research Project on Highly Flammable Exterior Cladding
Hi-rise fires in London and Dubai, intensified by highly flammable exterior cladding, have garnered tremendous attention, caused significant loss, and prompted calls for changes in building facades. NFPA recently sponsored a research project to determine the best risk assessment methodology; and then developed a tool to assist global authorities in assessing risks in buildings that contain wall assemblies with combustible components. The new research and innovative tool helps building owners, facility managers and AHJs prioritize inspection and remediation efforts for hi-rise building inventory.
