Chief Tim Wall and his guests look at automatic and mutual aid, ways to show the value of a department's budget and educational opportunities for volunteer and combination firefighters and officers.
Chief Wall's guest are Little Elm, TX, Fire Chief Joe Florentino and former firefighter and Anthony Mangeri, faculty member of the American Military University's School of Public Safety and Health.
The panel discusses the ins and outs of mutual and automatic aid policies, such as coordinated training, relationship building and insurance coverage concerns.
They switch over to a discussion on budgets in the new economy. Mangeri shares the idea of "activity based budgeting" and Florentino discusses "The New Normal," in Texas, based on once booming economy and housing market.
They transition to a discussion on education for the volunteer and combination firefighters. They share the offerings from the college and university levels, the National Fire Academy and both local and state academies.
