Former MA Chief Jailed for Recording Without Consent

Jan. 23, 2024
Ex-Oaks Bluff Fire-EMS Chief John Rose, 53, was suspended as a firefighter in West Tisbury last month.

A former fire chief is being held in jail on charges of recording a sex act without the person's consent.

John Rose, 53, was arrested this past weekend on charges of photographing, videotaping or electronically surveilling partially nude or nude persons, WCVB reported.

Rose served as fire chief of Oaks Bluff Fire-EMS Department from 2013 until 2020.

He was hired as a firefighter in West Tisbury in 2022. He was suspended indefinitely without stipends last month after a protection order was obtained against him.

Rose is being held without bail on charges that stem from an investigation conducted by the Cape & Islands State Police Detective Unit.

No information on those charges was released.
