FL Firefighter Found Unresponsive in Fire Station Dies

Crews were unable to revive Hernando County firefighter Steven R. Terry after he was found unresponsive.

Hernando County firefighters are mourning the loss of a colleague who they found unresponsive in a fire station Monday night.

Crews tried to resuscitate firefighter Steven R. Terry, 53, after they found him unresponsive around 9:30 p.m. at Fire Station 9 in Brooksville.

He was transported to Bayfront Brooksville Hospital, according to WFLA.com.

Terry joined the fire service in 1993 and served with Pasco County Fire Rescue before he joined Spring Hills Fire Rescue.

Officials say Terry spent over 20 years in the military. He was most recently a First Sergeant in the Florida Army National Guard 1-111th Aviation Regiment.

Terry leaves behind his wife Jennifer, sons Anthony, Jason, Zachary and Kevin, daughter Olivia and his mother Judy Binzel.

“Our condolences go out to his family, friends, co-workers and brothers and sisters of the fire and military services,” Hernando County Fire Rescue said in a statement. “He will be dearly missed.”
