Philadelphia Firefighter Succumbs to COVID-19

Veteran Philadelphia firefighter Eric Gore died June 2 at Temple University Hospital after "a valiant struggle with COVID-19," according to the department.

The Philadelphia Fire Department has announced that a firefighter within its ranks has passed away after contracting COVID-19.

In a Facebook post Wednesday morning, the department says veteran firefighter Eric Gore died Tuesday at Temple University Hospital after "a valiant struggle with COVID-19." According to the post, Gore most recently served with Engine 37 in the city's Chestnut Hill section.

Funeral arrangements are pending for Gore, whose brother Lamont also serves as a firefighter in the city.
