A Texas firefighter died at the station Monday.

The Jollyville Fire Department received a medical call while firefighter/EMT Dylan Rodiek was on duty, but he did not respond to the emergency, the U.S. Fire Administration stated in an alert Tuesday. When Rodiek's fellow firefighters returned to the firehouse, they found him dead on the floor of the bunk from a possible cardiac arrest.

Rodiek had been with the department since March, the department announced in a social media post. He was described as "always an enthusiastic employee who enjoyed serving the community."

"Sadness is heavy in our department and many others across the region today as we learned of the death of Firefighter/EMT Dylan Rodiek from the Jollyville Fire Department (JFD), who passed away last night while on duty at his station," the Austin Fire Department stated in a Twitter post.
