Canadian Firefighter Killed in Apparatus Rollover

Castor firefighter Stephen Rayfield was killed and the town's fire chief injured after the apparatus they were in lost control and rolled over.

The town of Castor is mourning the loss of a firefighter after he was killed responding to a traffic accident on Feb. 4.

Castor firefighters were responding to a reported head-on collision  when the accident occurred on icy roads.

The apparatus rolled, killing Stephen Rayfield and injuring Chief Patrick Kelly, according to the Calgary Herald.

“Our firemen always go above and beyond the call of duty, they went out despite the conditions,” read a post by Mayor Richard Elhard. This has been a traumatic event for all our fire fighters and their families. So please support them in any ways you can in the coming days."
