Fire and EMS personnel in the nation's capital are mourning the loss of a veteran firefighter.
Battalion Chief Keith T. Long reportedly collapsed during a department function.
Long, who had been with the department for 38 years, was the Safety Battalion Chief, fire officials announced Wednesday.
He also was a former officer with Oxon Hill Volunteer Fire Company in Prince George's County, MD.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
