TX Fire Chief Collapses, Dies after Call

Forest Bend Fire Chief John Norris died of an apparent heart attack at home after assisting at a structure fire.

Texas firefighters are mourning the loss of a fire chief who collapsed and died after a working fire Saturday.

Forest Bend Fire Chief John Norris died of an apparent heart attack at home after a structure fire in Friendswood, KPRC  reported. 

A six-year veteran with the department, he became chief in September. 

Norris was with Houston Fire Department for 32 years and left last year.

He is survived by his wife. Wendy Chang Norris and daughter, Catherine. 

Wendy is CEO of Texas Line of Duty Task Force.
