Members of Holmes Fire District #1 in Millersburg are mourning the loss of a firefighter who passed away July 4 following this shift.
Firefighter/Paramedic Kyle Yoder completed his shift Saturday about 6 a.m. and returned to the station around 9 a.m.
According to a statement from the district, firefighters were dispatched to the station for a 9-1-1 call.
The department's ambulance crew found Yoder collapsed in the station after they returned from another call. They began rendering aid to Yoder, including CPR.
Crews transported Yoder to Pomerene Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
"Our hearts are with Kyle’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters as we grieve the loss of a dedicated public servant, respected colleague, and brother in the fire service," the department shared in a statement.
