A fast-moving fire forced Detroit crews to used a defensive attack on a large dwelling.
Engine 32 and Ladder 31 were dispatched to a still alarm at 3310 Montclair around 11 p.m. on Jan. 16.
Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the large 2 1/2-story structure and called for a box alarm. That bought Engines 41, 52, Squad 6 and Battalion 6.
Crews made an interior attack, but found the fire had quickly extended through the top floor and attic, forcing crews to retreat.
Engine 46 and Ladder 23 were special called.
Aerial master streams and hoselines were used to knock down the fire.
