Firefighters in Mount Vernon battled fire in a vacant home that spread to the occupied home next door.

Mount Vernon firefighters battled a two-alarm fire Monday afternoon near Sanford Boulevard and 7th Avenue South.

The fire started in an unoccupied dwelling and spread to a nearby home.

Firefighters from Yonkers, New Rochelle, and Pelham assisted Mount Vernon with operations.
