Kentucky Firefighters Battle First Forest Fires Of The Season

Forest fires are burning hundreds of acres across eastern Kentucky and firefighters are hoping for some relief.

The start of forrest fire season in Kentucky is marked by more than two hundred acres of scorched wood-land.

High winds fanned about a half dozen brush fires in five eastern Kentucky counties.

You can smell the smoke before seeing the flames that are burning throughout the region.

Those with the Kentucky Division of Forestry are taking their jobs seriously and one day at a time since the number of fires keep growing. They say no matter how long it takes they won't leave until the fire has been contained.

As they watch to smoke rise they also watch for any signs of rain to fall.

With the warm weather over the past few days those fighting the fires say it's up to the people to follow the rules and be extremely cautious.

Division of forestry officials also say if you are not sure about the required time to burn something or have any questions to call them at one of their offices.
