Dry Cleaners' Collapsing Roof Injures CA Firefighter

The Escondido firefighter suffered the injury while working with crews to put out the blaze broke out at the business in a strip mall Wednesday afternoon.

A firefighter was injured after a roof at a burning dry cleaning business in Escondido collapsed Wednesday afternoon.

Jeff Murdock, public information officer for the Escondido Fire Department, said the blaze at the business started at a strip mall at 945 N. Valley Parkway at about 3:20 p.m.

The fire was out by 4:45 p.m., but firefighters remained on the scene looking for hot spots, he said.

The injured firefighter was taken to a local hospital, but no report of injuries were available yet, Murdock said. The business appeared to be a complete loss, he said.
