A large fire engulfed two yachts docked at the Seaview Harbor Marina in Egg Harbor Township early Monday morning.

Firefighters began battling the flames around 1:50 a.m. and continued even after the boats became submerged in water, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Shannon Kearney said.

The marina is located off the Longport Causeway leading into Longport.

Each boat contained 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel, Kearney said, some of which leaked into the water. A Coast Guard team is heading to the scene to respond to the pollution, Kearney said.

The owners of the boats are responsible for clean-up, she said.

There were no injuries. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
