CT Driver Taken into Custody after Nearly Hitting FFs

Crews from Broad Brook, Warehouse Point, South Walton, and Enfield were battling a first-floor apartment blaze that sent one person to the hospital with severe burns.

One person was taken to Hartford Hospital with severe burns after a fire at building "T" of Mill Ponds Apartments in East Windsor, around 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

Firefighters from Broad Brook, Warehouse Point, South Walton, and Enfield evacuated the building and extinguished the first-floor blaze within 10 minutes. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The Red Cross and East Windsor police arrived on the scene to help relocate residents and secure the building. As crews were picking up to leave, a resident of Mill Ponds nearly hit the firefighters while backing up a vehicle. Police then took the driver into custody.
