Four Baltimore City firefighters were pulled from the basement of a burning rowhouse after the first floor collapsed early Wednesday.

Crews were responding to a fire that broke out at a two-story building just after 5:30 a.m., according to an online update by Baltimore's fire union. As the firefighters were moving though the home, the first floor gave way, sending the four into the basement.

A mayday alert was issued following the floor collapse, and crews rescued the firefighters from the burning basement. The four firefighters suffered minor injuries and "appear to be OK," according to the union.
