June 1, 2020
Firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out in a three-story apartment building in Hartford late Sunday, displacing 13 adults and four children.

Firefighters rescued a man from a burning building on Bond Street Sunday night, a fire official said.

More than a dozen adults and four children were displaced after the two-alarm fire at 23-25 Bond St., Capt. Mario Oquendo said Monday. No one was injured, although one resident was taken to Hartford Hospital because of an ongoing medical problem.

The rescued resident was a man in his late teens or early 20s, Oquendo said.

Firefighters were called to the six-unit apartment building about 9:50 p.m. The fire burned mostly in the back of the three-story, brick structure.

At least 17 people – 13 adults and four children – were displaced, although the number may climb, Oquendo said. The fire department’s Special Services Unit worked with the American Red Cross to help the families.

Staff members from the Fire Marshal’s office are investigating the fire.
