MA Firefighter Injured in Single-Family House Blaze

Six residents were able to safely escape the burning house in Chicopee before firefighters arrived Monday, and flames heavily damaged the structure.

CHICOPEE, MAA fire displaced six people and heavily damaged a single-family home on Monday.

One firefighter was injured when extinguishing the blaze at 57 Tanglewood St. The extent of his injuries was unknown, said Fire Lt. Katie Collins Kalbaugh.

All the residents of the home were able to escape safely before firefighters arrived. They also were able to remove a pet from the home, Collins Kalbaugh said.

“They knocked it down pretty quickly,” Collins Kalbaugh said of the firefighters.

The home was heavily damaged. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Chicopee Fire Department, she said.
