Four IN Firefighters Struck by Suspected Drunken Driver

While working to put out a trash fire, four Beech Grove firefighters were injured when a suspected drunken driver struck them after crashing into an apparatus

Four Indiana firefighters were struck by suspected drunken driver while on a call Saturday.

The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. while Beech Grove crews were working at a trash fire, the department said in an online update. A hoseline was being deployed when a suspected drunken driver crashed into an apparatus and then struck four firefighters.

The firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and were treated and released. Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley told WTHR-TV that two of the firefighters were thrown between 10 to 15 feet from the apparatus. 

Police arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
