Firefighters rescued a mother and her young child who were trapped inside their home’s second floor during a fire early Monday morning, according to Medford fire officials.
At around 2 a.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire on Brookings Street. A woman and her child were trapped inside the home, according to the report.
First arriving crews saw fire along the front side of the house. The woman and her young child were unable to evacuate their second-floor bedroom because of smoke and heat, officials said.
Firefighters rescued them at the window, and carried them down a ground ladder to safety.
Both the mother and child were not injured, according to officials.
The fire grew to two alarms before it was contained.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
