As many as 70 Dallas firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze at a two-story commercial building for three hours Sunday.

The fire broke out shortly before 9 a.m. in a vacant building in southwest Dallas, according to the fire department. As crews used hand-tools to uncover smoldering within the floor and wall spaces, they found that the extent of the fire was greater than initially thought and a third alarm was raised for more staffing.

The blaze was extinguished shortly after noon, and no injuries were reported. Firefighters were rotated, cooled and hydrated because of the heat, the department said.
