ALBUQUERQUE, NM—Fire crews pulled a husband and wife from a house fire early Saturday morning in Northeast Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue officials said in a release that the elderly couple was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and burns but are expected to survive. No firefighters were injured.

The release states AFR responded around 1:30 a.m. to a blaze at a home in the 9600 block of Camino Del Sol NE, a few blocks from Eubank and Spain.

The home had smoke and flames coming from the roof and the husband met firefighters at the front door and told them his wife was still inside.

The release states AFR made a quick search of the home and pulled the wife from the home while others fought the fire.

"Both patients were treated on scene for smoke inhalation and then rushed to UNM Hospital," the release states. "The fire was under control at approximately 2:05 a.m. and the cause is still under investigation."
