Austin firefighters Thursday evening rescued a person from a house fire in South Austin.
The person, who was only identified as an adult, was taken to a hospital, according to Austin fire officials. Officials did not specify the severity of the person's injuries but said they were evaluated by Austin-Travis County EMS medics. The person was able to walk and was conscious, according to fire officials.
Austin Fire Department Battalion Chief Calvin Poole said no other people were inside the house, which is located on the 3200 block of China Grove in South Austin. He said most of the fire was contained to the kitchen of the house.
The fire, which was reported to emergency officials at 7:11 p.m. Thursday, was out within an hour of firefighters arriving , Poole said.
Poole said the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
No further information was provided Thursday evening.
