Two St. Louis Firefighters Injured Battling Tugboat Fire

Crews from the department's Marine Unit Rescue Task Force put out the fire that broke out in the engine room of a tugboat on the Mississippi River.

Two St. Louis firefighters were injured battling a tugboat fire on the Mississippi River on Tuesday.

A fire broke out at about 7 a.m. in the boat's engine room, the St. Louis Fire Department stated in an online update. Flames then spread to the second deck.

Units from the department's Marine Unit Rescue Task Force tackled the fire. Two firefighters were injured during the call, with one firefighter taken to the hospital in stable condition and another was treated at the scene.
