Apartment Fire Sends Houston Firefighters to Hospital
Two Houston firefighters were injured during an apartment fire late Thursday that seriously injured a resident.
The fire broke out at 9:45 p.m. at an apartment complex in the city's Galleria area, KRIV-TV reports. Flames tore through around a dozen units in the complex, and crews were able to put out the fire in about a half hour, according to KHOU-TV.
Two firefighters suffered medical issues while battling the fire, Chief Samuel Pena stated in an online update. Both firefighters were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
A resident also was injured in the fire. The person suffered extensive burns and was taken to a burn center.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
