SC Crews Tackle Early Morning Apartment Blaze

Columbia firefighters responded early Monday when a multi-story residential building caught fire and the flames spread to a nearby structure.

Oct. 18—COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia's Fire Department put out a blazing fire at an apartment building in the early hours of Monday morning.

The fire, located at the 1900 block of Barnwell Street, spread to a multi-story building. Firefighters responded around 12:30 a.m. and were able to get the fire under control in about an hour. The fire spread to an unoccupied neighboring building.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, CFD said.
