WV LODD Arson Remains Unsolved

An arson fire that took the life of 167th Airlift Wing firefighter Logan Young in Berkley County remains unsolved one year later.

An arson fire in Berkley County that claimed the life of a West Virginia Air National Guard firefighter remains unsolved one year later.

167th Airlift Wing Fire Department firefighter Logan Young, 30, was killed when a beam collapsed, striking him while battling the mutual aid fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire was arson. Shortly after, a fire three miles away on the same road was also determined to be arson.

According to WCHS TV, there is a $23,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Young’s death.

Young was the recipient of numerous awards and decorations, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
