Mother, Children Rescued from Detroit House Fire

Detroit firefighters rescued a mother and her three children from a house fire Monday afternoon.

A mother and her three children were hospitalized with critical injuries after firefighters rescued them from a dwelling fire Monday.

Firefighters were called to the home on the 17300 block of Kentucky around 2:30 p.m.

“When they arrived on the scene they had heavy fire and they had people trapped," Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell told The Detroit News.

A neighbor who witnessed the rescues told Fox2Detroit that he saw firefighters carry two babies out of a second-story window and rush them to a medic rig.

The woman and three children, all under the age of 5, with in serious condition.

Fire officials are investigating whether the use of heaters and candles being used are responsible for the fire.
