Williamson Fire-Rescue firefighters played an important role in the lives of a couple who got engaged after firefighters rescued the engagement ring from the burnt-out shell of their vehicle.

Fire crews who were called to battle the vehicle fire arrived to find the vehicle fully involved. Crews quickly doused the flames and were able to make an important save, according to a Facebook post by Williamson Fire-Rescue.

Once the fire was extinguished, the engagement ring, still in its box, was located in the heavily damaged vehicle.

When the ring was recovered, Williamson Fire-Rescue said, “The driver made the decision to ask for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage safely off the road and she said YES!”

The department wished many years of happiness to the future bride and groom.
