3 Dead in OH House Explosion

The Garfield Heights Fire Department responded to the call, but the home was already destroyed when they arrived.

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio – Two men and woman were killed Saturday due to a home explosion, according to investigators with the Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Bureau.

The Garfield Heights Fire Department was called about 6:40 p.m. to a home located on East 81st Street, near Vista Avenue, investigators said.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The home was destroyed when firefighters arrived. Firefighters received help from the East Technical Rescue Team to help them locate the three bodies, who have not been identified.

Investigators with the Division of State Fire Marshal, Garfield Heights Fire and Police, and Dominion Energy arrived on the scene to investigate the fire.

The fire and explosion damaged the sides of both neighboring homes. The homes were not destroyed, and it is unclear if anyone else was injured.
