A child was thrown out a window while a woman jumped to escape a house fire in Columbus that left three adults dead early Tuesday.

The child was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition while the woman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

“They were told by bystanders that there were people inside so they certainly aggressively tried to get inside to rescue those victims,” Columbus Fire Chief Jeffrey Geitter told nbc4i.

Firefighters found three adults dead in the house, nbc4i reported.

Two were brought outside while one victim stayed inside while investigators started their work.
