A Harford County resident found the old devices while mowing the grass.

Several explosive devices were found by a person mowing grass in Harford County Wednesday afternoon.

Bomb squad technicians with the Maryland Fire Marshal's Office determined the three devices had not been fired, and the triggering mechanism was intact.

They detonated them on the property while area roads were closed.

Officials found two more buried in the same vacinity, and rendered them safe as well, according to a release.

Maryland State Fire Marshal Brian S. Geraci praised the homeowners' mindfulness and reminded the public to practice the three R's when a suspicious device is located. "Recognize that any suspicious objects found should not be touched under any circumstances. Retreat or carefully leave the area. Report device immediate and the approximate location to a 911 dispatcher."
