More than 200 Firefighters Face 5-Alarm NY Blaze

Two firefighters were injured as crews from seven municipalities battled the massive fire that destroyed a three-story apartment building and a nearby restaurant.

More than 200 firefighters were injured battling a five-alarm New York blaze that injured two firefighters Sunday.

Crews responded to the three-story apartment fire at a Port Chester at around 12:30 p.m., WLNY-TV reports. Firefighters from seven communities, including Greenwich, CT, attacked the blaze that sent smoke and embers throughout the area.

The apartment building was a total loss, and flames spread to a nearby restaurant, destroying it. Nearly 30 residents were displaced by the fire.

Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion during the blaze and were taken to the hospital, according to WCBS. One of the firefighters also suffered smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
