KS Teen Helps Sisters Flee Fire Caused by Christmas Lights

The 13-year-old Shawnee heard crackling outside his bedroom window after lights set leaves in a gutter on fire.

A Kansas teen helped his younger sisters and a babysitter escape a house fire after he heard crackling noises outside his bedroom window. No one was hurt in the blaze, which was caused by Christmas lights setting leaves in a gutter on fire, Shawnee firefighters were even able to save the family's holiday gifts.

"My sisters were scared," Nicholas Elliott, 13, told WDAF-TV.
