OH Firefighter, Resident Hospitalized from House Fire

A Reading firefighter was in good condition after suffering injuries while battling a residential blaze that had crews from neighboring communities responding.

An Ohio firefighter was one of two people injured and taken to the hospital stemming from a house fire early Wednesday.

The blaze broke out at about 5 a.m. in Reading, WLWT-TV reports. Crews from Reading and neighboring communities were able to get the fire under control quickly and contain the damage to a front bedroom on the home's second story.

A resident of the house was able to escape the burning structure by the time firefighters arrived at the scene, according to WLWT. It's unclear how the man made it outside the house, but he was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

A Reading firefighter also was injured while battling the blaze, and he was taken to the hospital in good condition, the department's chief told the TV station. Details on how the firefighter was hurt and the nature of his injuries were not immediately known.
