Dramatic Video Shows Burning Roof Falling on Dallas FF

Dallas Fire Capt. Ronald J. Janek was taken to the hospital with minor burns and significant injures to his back and foot after part of a fiery building collapsed on him while battling a blaze.

A Dallas firefighter was injured after a part of a building collapsed on him while battling a commercial blaze early Friday.

The fire broke out shortly before 2 a.m. at a commercial building, WFAA-TV reports. Firefighters used ladder pipes and hand lines to extinguish the blaze.

Video captured a fiery roof crumbling and falling on Capt. Ronald J. Janek on the ground below. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition with significant back and foot injuries, as well as minor burns on his neck, Dallas Fire Rescue said in a statement.

Although his injuries weren't life-threatening, Janek will be in the hospital for a few days, and he is expected to have a long recovery, according to the department. Family, friends and fellow firefighters also have been to the hospital to see him.

No one else was injured in the fire. The cause is under investigation.
