Firefighters from multiple departments battled a large, three-alarm industrial blaze that erupted at an Illinois recycling company early Wednesday.
The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. at the Interco recycling plant in Madison, KDSK-TV reports. At least five departments around the area responded to the fire, including crews from St. Louis.
Firefighters evacuated residents from the area as they tackled the blaze. Witnesses told KDSK they awoken by loud booms and several "popping" sounds.
