A portion of a roof fell on three Illinois firefighters as they battled a two-alarm residential fire late Sunday.
The fire broke out at a home in Centreville, KTVI-TV reports. Crews from multiple departments—Camp Jackson, Church Road, Golden Gardens, Cahokia, Prairie Du Pont, Alorton and Villa Hills—responded to the call.
While working to put out the flames burning the house's garage, three firefighters were struck by a part of the roof that fell on them. The firefighters were evaluated at the scene, and they were medically cleared to return to fight the fire.
Occupants in the house were sleeping when the fire erupted, but they were able to escape. It's not clear how the fire ignited, but investigators believe it started in the garage, according to KTVI.
