Two Chicago Firefighters Injured During Mayday Call

The firefighters were rescued and taken to the hospital after they were disoriented by a flashover while battling a residential fire on the Far South Side.

Two Chicago firefighters were injured during a residential fire Monday night.

Crews responded to a fire at a two-unit building on the city's Far South Side, WGN-TV reports. A mayday call was issued after a flashover disoriented two firefighters battling the flames, according to WBBM-TV.

The firefighters were rescued and taken to the hospital. One firefighter suffered that were not life-threatening and the other firefighter was in good condition.

Six residents were able to safely escape the home, and no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
