Two people were injured after jumping from a burning condominium early Thursday.
The three-alarm fire broke out at about 3 a.m. at the Lafayette Cove Condominiums in Norfolk, WAVY-TV reports. By the time crews arrived, flames had engulfed the three-story building and blocked the exit to six units, according to WVEC-TV.
During the fire, two people leaped to safety to escape the flames. One jumped from a second-story window and the other from the third-story.
The two people were taken to the hospital, but no details were released about the extent of their injuries. Three other people were injured and evaluated at the scene.
Flames destroyed six apartments, but a fire wall protected other units in the building. The fire also damaged nearby buildings.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
