North Carolina firefighters battling a two-alarm residential fire Sunday safely escaped the collapse of the home's second floor.
The fire broke out shortly before 6 a.m. at a home in southeast Charlotte, WJZY-TV reports. When crews reached the scene, they found about 70 percent to 80 percent of the house was engulfed in flames.
As multiple firefighters worked to put out the fire from inside, the flames collapsed the second floor. The firefighters were able to get out of the house, and no injuries were reported.
Officials believe the fire started from an unattended fire pit on the back porch, according to fire department officials.
