CT Firefighters Injured in Mayday Rescue During House Fire

Two firefighters were pulled from a burning Manchester home after they fell through the second floor while battling an all-hands fire.

Two Connecticut firefighters were injured after they fell through the second floor of a burning house early Wednesday.

The fire broke out at about 1:45 a.m. at a Manchester home that appeared to be vacant, WTIC-TV reports. Crews from Manchester and East Hartford responded to the all-hands fire, and they encountered heavy smoke and flames when they reached the scene. 

Two maydays were issued during the call when two firefighters fell through the second floor. They were pulled from the burning house and taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

Crews eventually were able to get the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
