An Ohio firefighter and a girl were injured in a fire that tore through two homes early Wednesday.
The fire broke out shortly after 1:30 a.m. at an occupied house in Youngstown, WFMJ-TV reports. But flames quickly spread to a neighboring vacant home.
A girl was trapped inside when the fire started, and she escaped by breaking through a second-story window. She was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
A Youngstown firefighter also was injured in the fire. He was put on a stretcher at the scene and taken to the hospital, but details about his condition and the nature of his injuries were not released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
